Lee Sacks, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer, Advocate Aurora Health
Lee Sacks, M.D., has been selected as the 2018 recipient of the HRET TRUST Award. Dr. Sacks is chief medical officer of Advocate Aurora Health, where he is responsible for safety, quality, population health, insurance, claims, and risk management. He previously served as executive vice president, chief medical officer, of Advocate Health Care (before the merger with Aurora Health Care) since 1997.
Dr. Sacks served as the founding CEO of Advocate Health Partners (now Advocate Physician Partners), a clinically integrated network of more than 5,000 physicians. The organization coordinates care for 1 million lives in commercial, Medicare and Medicaid populations. In addition, Dr. Sacks is a fellow of the Institute of Medicine, Chicago.
His work supports the AHA’s commitment to quality, safety, value and affordability. Dr. Sacks is a nationally recognized expert on quality and value. He has led Advocate on its safety journey for many years, resulting in a 54%–55% reduction from baseline in serious safety events at end of 2017.
Established in 2003, the TRUST Award honors individuals who have exhibited visionary leadership in the health care field and who symbolize HRET's mission of leveraging research and education to make a dramatic impact in policy and practice.
